Make your first counter
Describe what you want to count, check the preview, say yes - then share the tap link and ask your first question.
A counter is designed in a chat. You describe it, Countdat shows a preview made from real rows, and nothing is saved until you say yes.
#1. Describe what you're counting
From your home page, start a new counter and say what it's for, in a sentence. Be specific about what one row means and what you want to record with it.
- "Count coffees poured in the office, with the drink and size."
- "Count visitors at reception, with who they're here to see."
- "Count support incidents, with severity and whether they're closed."
#2. Check the preview
Countdat proposes the counter - its name, what a row is, and its fields - and shows how a row would look. If something's off, say so: "make size optional", "add a field for the team". When it looks right, say yes to save.
#3. Add the first rows
Pick whichever fits:
- Tap - one big button, on any phone.
- Talk or type - "two lattes and a flat white" becomes three rows.
- The Add form - when a row needs a few fields.
- Import a file - CSV, spreadsheet, email, PDF or photo.
- A scheduled job - rows from your own database, on a schedule.
#4. Share the tap link
Decide who can tap - anyone with the link, or members you invite - and send the link to them.
#5. Ask your first question
Every counter comes with suggested questions. Tap one, or ask your own. Then open Show the working to see how the answer was reached.
Tip: start small. A counter with one or two fields gets useful answers fastest - you can add fields later, and the change is previewed before it's saved.
